Disney is in my DNA having grown up with “The Wonderful World of Disney” on Sunday nights and enjoyed countless trips to Disneyland. It’s been even more fun to share the wonder of Walt Disney World with my own six children and foreign exchange students, starting in 2005 for a “princess visit” with my first three daughters.
My husband and I never imagined that we’d be able to afford taking all six of our children to Disney World. Then I discovered the military discounts, which have enabled us to vacation at Disney parks and resorts (and Universal theme parks too!) many more times than we thought possible. Celebrating birthdays, graduations, weddings, Christmas, family reunions, even retirement have been super memorable with Disney! Now a grandmother, I recently retired early from my 40-year career and have already planned my grandson’s first trip to Disney World.
Quoting Dash Parr, my kids have often exclaimed, even after resort-only trips, “That was the best vacation ever! I love our family.” We’ve even incorporated a “pilgrimage” aspect to our vacations to thank God for his many blessings!
It’s brought me great joy to share my vast experience of vacation planning with extended family, friends, and other military families to help them plan their trips, so they get the most of what they hope for in a vacation.
